The global pandemic has affected the world in various ways, including the economy. With this in mind, it has become more important than ever for business owners to reduce costs where possible and employees should help by thinking about ways in which resources can be saved and productivity can be boosted. After all, the more money your boss can save on their business bills, the higher their profits and the more likely it is that the company will survive during this difficult time.
If the corporation you work for succeeds, then your employer will find it easier to take care of your own needs. One of the easiest ways to save money, both at work and at home, is to think about the environment. Not only does this reduce waste, but it will also help with the company’s reputation as they will be able to advertise as an eco-friendly business.
Think about your behaviour at work; do you repeatedly use plastic cups to drink water or do you have a reusable bottle? Your employer will have to pay to replace the cups, so it’s better to bring in your own. Do you leave your computer on stand-by mode at the end of each day, rather than shutting down properly? Again, your employer will have to pay the unnecessarily high electricity bill, so be sure to do the right thing. Are you a bit too friendly with the printer? If so, it might be worth consider if you can just use a digital copy of the document and send it to colleagues via email, rather than printing. There are lots of companies that provide printers for business and can help with reducing ink and paper waste.
Be sure to approach your boss and let them know of your plans to be more frugal at work. They will appreciate your help and will likely encourage your colleagues to do the same. Without involvement from the rest of the staff, it’s unlikely that you’ll make too much of a difference on your own, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try.
