Children grow up so quickly. Once you’ve got them in a new outfit, they’re outgrowing it! With the idea firmly in our heads that they don’t get many months use of out clothing, especially when they are babies, where can you get cheap kids clothes?
Store Your Clothing
The first thing to say is, that unless you’re completely sure that you’re 100% not having any more children, store the children’s clothing you do have. That might be in boxes in the loft or those vacuum bags to ensure you get the most packed into the space you have. Don’t get rid of your things until you’re absolutely certain. The amount of people who do and then end up having another child and have to re-buy things is actually higher than you think!
Hand Me Downs
Don’t say no to hand me downs. Never think you are too good for them. They can quite often save you lots of money and as well as time having to shop for clothes. The majority that you’re offered usually have plenty of wearable miles left in then. As mentioned, kids only wear stuff for a short amount of time and with seasons changing and children growing so quickly, you might as well use what you’re offered!
eBay
You can often find second hand bundles of clothing on eBay. Sellers bundle them together in either ages or brands and you can pick up some cheap kids clothes bargains. What’s even better, when you’re done and if you’re not going to use them again, if they’re still sell-able, bundle them up and get a bit of your money back.
Facebook Marketplace
The Marketplace section of Facebook is a lot like eBay, apart from you can find local listings easily and collect them so you don’t have to pay postage. If you find someone who is selling clothing that you like, why not ask if they’ll have more of it down the line? If they have a child couple of years old than yours, you could become the go to buyer for them. You might even make a friendship!
Supermarkets
Some of the best cheap kids clothes can come from supermarkets. George at Asda, Sainsburys Tu and Tesco’s F&F are full of quality kids clothing at affordable prices. Morrisons have a children’s clothing section called Nutmeg too. They often have great items on sale, making them even cheaper. One top tip is to never buy any Sainsbury’s clothing unless they’re running a 25% off sale. They do this every five or six weeks so if you time it right you can get great quality clothing for a fraction of the price it usually retails at.
Stuff On Sale
Whilst there aren’t that many dedicated kids wear shops now that Mothercare closed, there are a few. Shops like M&S, Matalan H&M have children’s sections. Then there is Mamas & Papas. Make sure to only buy in the sale. Otherwise the prices you pay are pretty expensive!
There are loads of ways to find cheap kids clothes by simply doing some research and being clever about where you shop. There are lots of other expenses that come with having children so if you can save some money on clothing, that’s fantastic!
