When you’re creating things, fonts are so important. Fonts create stories. They give your brand a look and feel, they establish your design skills among the best and they help to title your work and say what you want to be heard. Fonts help your creations come to life. With so much importance on font, you can’t just scroll through and select one at random. There’s a lot more about it and we want to share the importance of fonts with you. Hopefully it will help you view fonts in a new way and use them differently in your next project.

The Look You’re After
As you can see from the two words above, the font makes such an incredible difference. It can take you through the ages, drop you off in a comic book and bring you back into a regal and elegant occasion. These don’t have to be expensive fonts either. There are fonts out there which you can download for free. Some might be usable in personal projects only whereas others could come with full licences for you to use for business. It’s great to know though, that if you need something, you can get it without spending any money. These freebie fonts are perfect for expanding the range of fonts on your computer. Check out Font Bundles when you start your next project and you’ll love the range of fonts on offer.
Wedding Stationery
If you’re getting married, let’s start off by saying congratulations! It’s going to be an amazing day and you can easily create an incredible brand for your big day by using fonts. Consider what theme you’re going for on your big day. Is it a festival chic occasion? Or a traditional top hat and tails celebration? By tallying up the type of font with the theme of the day you help the guests feel what it will be like. Your font can run through from the save the date card, right through the wedding invites to the thank you cards. There are fonts which simply wouldn’t work with an elegant wedding in a field with hay bails. Similarly, there are fonts which wouldn’t work with tradition. By finding something that works with your wedding theme, the font has a purpose and works within that theme, rather than sticking out and looking odd.
YouTube Thumbnails
YouTube is huge. There are people making millions of pounds from their video content and you could tap into that market. Never forget that those huge channels once had to set up their channel the same way that you do. YouTube thumbnails need to tell part of the story. They need to be readable and also enhance the viewers perception of the video. It has to help get that click and get that view. Bright and bold fonts are perfect for YouTube as they stand out from the web page and are easy to read. Consider that what you want to say you need to get across in a few words. These words need to be easily identifiable and aid the user clicking on your video.
Story Books
Books are full of words and those words need a typeface. Let’s concentrate on children’s books. Simply looking at the book shelf in my front room I see a host of different kid’s book, with hundreds of different fonts popping out. They’re all clear and easy for children to read which is the first incredibly important part, but they’re also fun. They give context to the story. A story called Muddle and Match has a muddle of fonts for the word Muddle and a perfectly clear and concise font chosen for the word match. My First Big Book Of Space has capital letters in giant writing to emphasize just how big this book is going to be and grab the attention of the aspiring young astronaut. Fonts can be playful, add fun and humor and help tell the story.

Business Branding
People make a judgement about your business before they even step foot into the shop or speak to a sales associate. They make a judgement the minute they see your logo or click onto your website. This is all because of the branding of your business and with that, the font used. It’s the sign on the door or the text in your tagline. Branding is so important, it’s a multi billion dollar industry. By choosing a font that gives the impression of your business that you want to be seen and felt, that’s a good thing. Simply choosing one from a random list doesn’t show much creativity or passion.
Party Invitations
You can say so much with fonts. If you’re hosting a Harry Potter party you need a wizard-esqe and wondrous font to create the atmosphere and theme of the party from the moment the invitation is opened. If you’re throwing birthday party for someone born in 1985, you can define and era with a specific font. Maybe it’s an afternoon tea with the girls which would look great in a swirly font or a safari style font for an animal party for a second or third birthday. You can be inspired by ranges on sale at supermarkets and card shops but they’re fairly basic and anyone can use those. You want your invitations to stand out. You want your guests to be thrilled to receive one of these through the letterbox or be chuffed when they have it handed over to them. You want your invitations to turn heads. You can do all of that with your font selection!
As you can see there are a wide range of fonts for a wide range of reasons. There really is something for everyone and you don’t have to pay a lot of money to find the fonts you need for your venture. Whether it’s a new start up company needing a logo and business cards or a bride and groom looking for the perfect start to their perfect life together, fonts can help.
