I still listen to CDs in the car. We have some in the campervan as well. But most of the time I stream Spotify from my phone. Fortunately I’ve been enough of a thrifty chap to use some decent offers and ‘play the game’ a little bit to get offers on my Spotify subscription. However, surely, there are to be some Spotify alternatives out there that are cheaper or maybe even free? Let’s take a look.

Amazon Prime Music

A name we all know, Amazon. If you sign up for Prime, you’ll have access to Amazon Prime Music. Not only will you get next day free delivery on thousands of products, you’ll be able to listen to ad free music. Amazon Prime is £79 a year, or £7.99 if you pay monthly. Students can get it for £3.99 (after a 6 month free trial!)

Apple Music

Another name everyone knows. Apple entered the music streaming service trying to be a high end product. At £9.99 a month, it’s the same price as Spotify and even has £14.99 family package with access for up to six people.

Deezer

The next on our list of Spotify alternatives is Deezer. You can get free version which is supported by ads or pay £9.99 a month for the premium service. Again, there’s a family service costed at £14.99. Exactly like Spotify and Apple Music.

Take Advantage Of Free Trials

Play the game of signing up and cancelling free trials and you can get months of ad free entertainment without spending a penny. Bounce from one to another and make the most of the free trial offers they give new customers. All the entertainment, none of the cost!

Just Use The Free Version

Maybe, at the end of the day, your money is better needed elsewhere. If that is the case, the free version of Spotify is absolutely fine. You’ll have adverts playing every half an hour or so and you’ll not be able to select individual songs. You’ll also have a limited amount of skips every hour but if you really don’t mind what you listen to and what bands or artists pop up, this is completely suitable.

Spotify Hacks

A couple of hacks I use for Spotify include looking for products that are being sold which include a subscription to Spotify Premium. Recently there are has been a lot of products at Currys PC World which have included this Spotify deal. The great thing is though, some of the products have only been a pound. So you’re eseentialy paying a pound for 6 months of Spotify Premium, which would usually cost you the best part of £60.

Another Spotify hack I have used in the past is to downgrade to free for a couple of months. They then usually send you an offer for three months of Premium for the price of one. I then take this offer and revert back to free afterwards. Using this technique you can usually get a six months of Spotify Premium for the price of two. Even better if you can get it over summer for music at BBQs and Christmas for festive streaming!

Don’t forget, if there is more than one of you in the house using Spotify, you can save money with different packages. The Duo package is £12.99 and the family package is £14.99. If you’re a student, get your discount and pay only £4.99 a month!

Let The Music Play

There are plenty of other Spotify alternatives out there too. You just need to look for them. Take advantage of free trials to find your perfect match and then enjoy listening to the music. Dance along, sing your heart out & rock out to the best music streaming services.
