How would you like to save money right now? Of course you would! Why wouldn’t you?! Cut the cost of your everyday living. Slice a percentage or two off your bills. Stick to a monthly budget instead of spending more than you have. You can then transfer those pounds and pence you save into your savings fund for the future. Let’s discuss a few ways that you really can save money!

Change Your Utility Company

One of the first ones is to make sure you are on the best tariff with your utility company. If you joined them on a special deal which has since ran out, you’ll likely now be on their more expensive standard tariff. Many people like sticking with the same company, which is fair enough, each to their own, but if you are, give them a call and get transferred onto their best deal! If you are prepared to change company, there are ways to compare tariffs available to you. You might not know some of the companies on the list but do a little bit of research. Some companies have great rates, others have terrible customer service. Find one that has both and you’ll save money from the moment you transfer to them.

Use A Cashback Site

If you frequently spend money online, but aren’t signed up to a cashback site like Quidco, you’re missing out on free money. These cashback sites have all the retailers you know and love on there and simply by clicking to the retailer via the cashback site, your journey will track and you’ll earn a percentage of what you spend, back as cashback. You can look at this in two ways. A way to decrease the cost of your purchase or a way to save up some money for another day. Whatever way you look at it, earning cashback is a good thing, especially as it’s just a shift in your online shopping mindset that has to take place. Sign up to a cashback site together to save money!

Sell Stuff You Don’t Want

Sounds simply doesn’t it and it actually doesn’t have to cost you a penny to do! Whilst eBay is fantastic for listing items and reaching a global audience of potential buyers, you can just as easily sell your items for free on Facebook Marketplace! What’s even better is that the buyer usually comes to collect. If there are things in your house that you don’t want or no longer need, get them listed and start earning money! You can even sell broken items. Put them online before you throw them in the trash!

Side Hustle Like A Boss

Maybe you are an amazing crafter? Maybe you woodwork like a ninja? Whatever you enjoy doing as a hobby, could you turn it into a side hustle? Sell your photography prints, make wedding cakes, list your greetings cards online. One of the best ways to save money is to side hustle. You are in control and if you have a talent for something, other people will see it and want to be part of it!

Automatically Save Money

This is so easy to do. You can set up automatic money transfers on your online banking to move your cash around. We do this every week as a way to save up for Christmas. Alternatively you can use money apps in order to do this. This could be rounding up what you spend and putting the difference into your savings. Whichever way you figure out is the best way for you, you’ll start filling that savings account quicker than ever!

Do Things Yourself

Why pay someone else to do something for you, that you could do yourself? From erecting a new fence, to mowing the lawn, to painting your bedroom walls. These are things that you would usually pay quite a bit of money for a tradesman to do, but if you have the time and skill, you can do yourself. I hate painting. I’d rather get someone in to do it as I’m not good at it and I find it dull. But I’ll happily turn my hand to making a new decking, which I’ve done at our home. People have different skills but you can teach yourself a new one. I’m not saying try to rewire your house. You need a professional for some jobs. But there are DIY jobs we can all do ourselves to save money.

Be the hero you were born to be with your money. By saving little and often, here and there, we can all boost your savings accounts and cut back on the money we part with.
