Lots of us need to make money as quickly as possible. In so many situation we can find ourselves short on cash and need to top up our bank balance to make ends meet. How can you make money in one day and how much can you actually make?

Sell Your Stuff

One of the easiest ways to make some money in one day is to look around you house and see what you can sell. From selling it to Music Magpie to listing it on Facebook Marketplace to selling items, you can get rid of your stuff for cash pretty easily. If you need money fast you need to price your items to sell. Facebook Marketplace is great because local people will collect items and pay you cash. Music Magpie will also send a courier to collect your DVDs, CDs, books and tech and give you a confirmed price for them. If you have any antiques, take them to a proper antiques dealer to sell them.

Online Surveys

You can earn a fair bit of money in exchange for using your time to take online surveys. There are loads of great survey websites and I listed some of the best here. You can easily earn a pound for 5 minutes work. Different sites and surveys pay different amounts. One of the best I have been paid for was almost £10 for about half an hour of taking part in a survey.

Part Time Jobs

Can you use any free time you have to take on a part time job. A part time job doesn’t have to be half the time you’d spend on a full time job. It can be a few hours a week, here and there. Maybe look on your local Facebook community group and see if anyone is hiring. Delivery drivers, bar staff and even pot washing at restaurants. Maybe head to some shops or cafes and see if they need any part time staff.

Use Your Skills

Can you use your skills to help others. They’ll likely pay you for your knowledge. Maybe use your day to write an ebook about how your skills can help others. You could connect with companies looking for a translator if you speak a different language. Know how to fix computers or tune pianos or upcycle bicycles, do it!

Odd Jobs In Your Community

Why not wander around your neighborhood, knock on some doors, explain that you’re trying to earn some extra cash for whatever reason and see if you can take on any odd jobs. From mowing gardens, to cutting hedges, to power washing driveways to cleaning cars and windows. If you’re willing to work, people will likely pay you for it.

Rent Your Spare Room

Do you have a spare room in your home? If you are in need of some cash, use this day to tidy that spare room and get it listed for rent. You can earn up to £7500 a year tax-free with the rent a room scheme. £100 a week would be £5200 a year. You might even make a really good friend!

Rent Your Driveway

Much in the same vein as renting your spare room, if you have a drive way you don’t use, rent it out. This is perfect if you live near somewhere where there is a lack of parking. Or expensive parking! If you’re near a hospital you might be able to get a nurse or doctor to pay to park on your drive. It would save them having to search for a space and pay through the nose for the privilege. The same if you’re near a university or college as they usually lack in available spaces.

Do Freelance Work

Could you use your work skills to do a bit of freelance work. This might be a problem if you have a job as they might have it in the contract that you can’t do similar work that you do for your full time employment. However you might be good at something else. Maybe you could offer photoshop services, write website content, provide illustrations for a book. If you have the skills, there will likely be people out there looking for them.

Ask For A Pay-rise

If you’ve been in your role at work for some time, use today to put together a proposal of why you should get a pay rise. Maybe you’ve not had a pay rise for a while. It could be that you’ve taken on a lot more work without your job role or pay packet changing. If you have put together a decent argument for it and organise a meeting with your boss, you could up your annual salary.

Lower Your Bills

Whilst this isn’t a way to make money, it’s saving money so you don’t pay as much. SO ultimately you do make money, in a round about kind of way. Spring clean your bills. Everything from utility bills to insurance premiums, phone contracts to council tax. Did you know that you can see if you’re in the right council tax band quite easily and if you’re not, it can be backdated! Lowering your broadband costs or reducing the amount you’re paying for your mobile phone contract can help shave cash off your outgoings. Things means more money in your pocklet!

As you can see, there are many ways to enhance your bank balance in just one day. Obviously you’re unlikely to be able to take all of these ideas on at once. However, you can select the ones that interest you or you can achieve in your current situation. Whether you need it to pay off a bill or have a broken fridge which needs replacing, make money in one day and you’ll be sorted.
