Lots of us have been enjoying staycations this year, right here in the United Kingdom. With the ability to travel abroad for holidays harder due to the pandemic, we’ve seen the wonder and pleasure of amazing destinations and locations on our own soil. Whether it’s seaside resorts or countryside villages, there is so much to enjoy right here in our own country. What about eating though, where can you enjoy eating, affordably, as we explore these beautiful places?

Well Known Brands

One of the great things about travelling the UK is that you can find places you recognise and have likely already eaten at. This is perfect if you’re travelling with children who know what they like and are a little bit on the fussy eater side. Franchised restaurants usually have the same menus across the board and are perfect if you know exactly what you want and the assurance that family members will eat their meals. You’ll find these places on most UK high streets and you’re usually pretty sure of getting a table and some half decent customer service. You can also usually take advantage of decent special offers, or use promotion codes found online to get mal deals or cut price plates. Well known names also tend to sell restaurant gift vouchers which you may have been given as a Christmas or birthday gift. These are perfect for keeping things that little bit more affordable when you’re travelling or holidaying in the UK. You can slash the price that you pay by utilising your vouchers or simply treat yourself to something a little more expensive which you wouldn’t usually purchase.

Indie Food Outlets

One of the best ways to find affordable and incredibly tasty food when you’re in a new town is to go to an independent business. Indie cafes and restaurants might not stand out on the high street with flashy logos and bright lights. They’re likely hidden away on side streets, perhaps with a wooden chalkboard directing you in their direction. The customer service you’ll likely get is second to none though. Indie business owners have got the investment in their own business. It’s not just a job to them. It’s a life, a living. They want to give the best possible service to all their customers to ensure they get good review and gain repeat custom. So many people have the mindset of going to a well known place, so these indie businesses often struggle. The fact is though, the usually have the best local and seasonal produce and will appreciate every penny going through their tills. The prices they put on their meals are fair and food they produce is unique and delicious.

Eating on the move or in a new town were you’re holidaying can often be a challenge. We don’t like queuing for popular places or looking through menus which we might not suit what we need. But we can eat well and on a budget on a staycation. Where will you eat next time you’re travelling throughout the UK?
